WunderGraph is a fast-growing startup, our goal is to bring everybody together to build digital products end-to-end. From interface design to API implementation, we provide the platform to go from sketch to product in a category-defining collaborative experience. Our North Star is to take the friction out of bringing digital ideas to life, making room for your ideas and productivity.

Developers from some of the biggest companies in the world are using WunderGraph to design and streamline their API environments. We raised our Series A ($7.5 million USD) in March 2025, being backed by eBay, Karma Ventures, and Aspenwood Ventures.

The culture we are creating together is extremely important to us. Read here how we are Building the Company We Always Wanted to Work In.

We invite everyone that wants to join us to understand our Core Beliefs and if you want to make an impact, have your voice heard, and work in a no-BS organization where you can get stuff done, look no further and apply today so we can chat.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Staff FullStack Engineer, you are the owner of the WunderGraph Cosmo Studio and its underlying Node.js control plane, the primary interface through which developers at companies like eBay and SoundCloud build and manage their mission-critical federated GraphQL APIs. Your primary responsibility is to architect and build the definitive user experience for modern API development, creating a single, cohesive product that bridges our high-performance Go-based router and our TypeScript/React/Next.js-based frontend.

You will not only design and build the UI but also the backend APIs that power it. Your work will bring our entire platform to life, from schema management and composition checks to advanced analytics and distributed tracing powered by OpenTelemetry and ClickHouse. We are looking for a hands-on technical leader who can seamlessly integrate these distinct technology stacks to solve complex challenges for our enterprise customers, ensuring our platform meets stringent security and compliance standards like SOC 2.

TEAM INTEGRATION

  • You align with the CTO.

  • You collaborate closely with the entire engineering team, product managers, and directly with customers. A key part of our culture is closing the feedback loop by putting engineers in direct contact with users through shared Slack channels and customer calls.

ROLE OBJECTIVES

You are successful if you:

  • Enable our customers' engineering teams to manage GraphQL Federation fast, reliably, and with confidence through the world-class WunderGraph Cosmo Studio you build.

  • Take full ownership of major features within the Cosmo Studio—and own them completely, from architecture to operation, embodying our value of "Velocity over Perfection".

  • Drive the architectural vision for the entire full-stack experience, making key decisions on frontend technologies, API design, and their integration with our core Go services.

  • Bring deep full-stack expertise to the table, leveling up the entire team through mentorship, architectural guidance, and by championing best practices.

  • Grow with WunderGraph as we scale, expanding your influence across the product and organization while helping us build a world-class engineering team.

ROLE TASKS

The role focuses on, but is not limited to:

  • Architecting, building, and operating the WunderGraph Cosmo Studio, our user-facing web application, using Next.js, React, and TypeScript.

  • Designing, implementing, and maintaining the backend APIs and services that power the Studio, primarily using Go and TypeScript/Node.js.

  • Owning and evolving the user experience for our observability stack (OpenTelemetry, ClickHouse) and features like Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) to ensure deep, actionable insights into our users' systems.

  • Collaborating on our command-line tool (wgc) and platform SDKs to create a seamless and cohesive workflow for developers across all interfaces.

  • Embedding security best practices into the platform by designing and implementing features that meet enterprise and SOC 2 compliance standards.

  • Mentoring other engineers, providing insightful code and design reviews, and documenting platform features and architectural decisions to foster a culture of collaboration and knowledge sharing.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven experience architecting and operating complex, user-facing web applications in production, with strong proficiency in TypeScript, React, and Next.js.

  • Nice to have but not mandatory: Proficiency in Go or a demonstrated ability to rapidly master it, as our router and telemetry services are written in Go.

  • You thrive in the dynamic environment of a scaling, remote-first company that values direct customer interaction and fast iteration.

  • A strong understanding of system architecture, API design, and GraphQL. Familiarity with GraphQL Federation is a significant plus.

  • Experience building or working with developer tools, platforms, or products with a highly technical user base is strongly preferred.

  • A self-starter attitude and a leader’s mindset: you are comfortable with ambiguity, can identify and solve ill-defined problems, and don’t need hand-holding.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly in a remote-first environment.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

  • WunderGraph's Cosmo Studio is recognized as the best-in-class UI for GraphQL Federation, celebrated for its exceptional developer experience (DX) and driving customer satisfaction.

  • Our platform infrastructure scales seamlessly and reliably to meet the demands of our largest enterprise customers, solidifying Cosmo's reputation for performance and stability.

  • You are recognized as a key technical leader and architect within the engineering organization, sought out for your expertise and guidance on our most complex full-stack challenges.

  • Your architectural decisions and mentorship have measurably improved the team's skills, our system's reliability, and our overall engineering culture, embodying our value of "Engineering Excellence".

  • You continue to grow with us, expanding your influence across the product and organization and helping to define the future of API collaboration at WunderGraph.
